ANRA PASSES AND FEES

Passes for the Arapaho National Recreation Area can be purchased for 1 day, 3 days, or 7 days: a 1day pass is $5, a 3 day pass is $10, and a 7 days pass is $15. Passes are available at the kiosk on the Meadow Creek Reservoir Road or at the USFS office in Granby. The pass must be displayed on the vehicle dashboard. If the pass is not displayed, a ranger may put a Notice of Required Fee envelope under the windshield wiper so that the fee can be mailed in, or he may issue a ticket (especially if he recognizes a repeat offender). Fines are $75. The envelope is a compliance “ticket”. The $5 fee must be mailed in or paid at the Granby Ranger Station. You cannot take the fee.

If the guest failed to purchase the pass before arriving at Junco, you may sell a 1 day pass for $5. Payment can be cash or check made payable to GCWG. The pass is good for 24 hours, so be sure to write the expiration date and time on the pass. Use the 24 hour clock to avoid AM and PM confusion. Remind the guest to take the pass back to the car and put it on the dashboard. Put the money in the cashbox in the envelope marked “GCWG Money”. Please be sure the guest wants a pass before you fill it out. Completed passes cannot be reused.

If the guest is purchasing a backcountry permit, they do not need to purchase an ANRA pass. If they have already done so, there is no refund.

95% of the pass fees collected go back to recreational improvements in the ANRA, such as improved campgrounds, boat docks, and trail maintenance.

Holders of a Senior Golden Age pass (over age 62), an Access or a Golden Access pass (blind or physically disabled), a Rocky Mountain National Park ANRA Joint Annual pass, or a National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands pass, do not need to buy an ANRA pass. These passes include access to the ANRA. The Rocky Mountain National Park pass by itself does not.

If low on ANRA passes (10 or less), contact the Junco cabin coordinator (check the website under contact info)..

If the visitor offers to pay with a $100 bill, ask him if he has a smaller denomination. We have a limit supply of change.

If a visitor returns to his car and finds a fee warning envelope from the NFS (i.e. he is not displaying a valid ANRA pass), do not sell him a pass. He must send his fee in with the envelope to clear his unpaid fee record.
