Second Creek Trail Extension Project July 21st to 23rd

Schedule

  • Monday, July 21st
    • 9:30 am – meet at trailhead/tailgate safety
    • 10:00 am – Hike to Broome Hut and settle in
    • 12 noon – Dress and ready to go for trail work
    • 4:30 pm – Return to Broome Hut

  • Tuesday, July 22nd
    • 8:00 – dressed and ready to go for trail work
    • 11:30 am – Lunch
    • 12:15 pm – trail work
    • 4:30 pm – Return to Broome Hut

  • Wednesday, July 23rd
    • 8:00 am – dressed and ready for trail work
    • 11:30 am – return to Broome Hut to pack up/Lunch
    • 12:30 pm – Hike back to Trail Head
Come for a day or stay overnight at the Broome Hut and help construct trail, extending the Second Creek Trail to the Mt. Nystrom Trail, and restore alpine habitat.
  • Meet: Monday, July 21, 2014

  • Time: 9:30 am

  • Location: Broome Hut/2nd Creek Trail Head, alternatively you can hike into the Broome Hut and meet the crew working above the Broome Hut, if you plan on coming just for the day.
    The trail head is located, on US 40 at mile marker 240, just below Berthoud Pass.

  • What to Bring: GCWG can have people bring food individually or plan for the group. People need to bring appropriate clothes (long sleeve, long pants, work gloves). Bring water bottles and sleeping bags and pillows for available bunk space at the Broome Hut.

  • USFS: will provide hard hats and trail work tools.

  • Additional Information: Overnight space at the Broome Hut is limited (16 people). Please register for the project with Beth Collins and Jim Magill and you will have to sign Broome Huts Liability release which will be provided to you by Beth and Jim .
    Additionally you may come up and help for the day. We will leave for work from the Broome Hut at 8:00 am every morning you can also meet us on the trail above the Broome Hut throughout the day.
