About GCWG

We are a 100% volunteer organization. Our volunteers work in three different capacities to protect and steward Wilderness areas within Grand County. Volunteer Wilderness Rangers educate the public and provide the vital reporting and statistics to the United States Forest Service, Sulphur Ranger District.

Dedicated cabin hosts serve at the Monarch and Junco Cabin Trailheads on the west side of the Indian Peaks. Volunteers at monarch cabin Trailhead greet over 30,000 visitors each summer season to provide critical information on regulations and current conditions within the Indian Peaks Wilderness.

On occasion our members also host social hikes which in addition to being fun, serve to provide trail conditions reports to community partners and the USFS.

Our all volunteer board of directors dedicates hundreds of hours each year to lead, manage, and grow our organization.
